I've done well with Slimming World in the past but like many others I hate the whole Mugshot/Diet Coke/MullerLight thing. I just can't understand how filling your body with horrible processed fake food is better than clean eating - even if you do lose weight. So I will be trying to do it without using these cheats and still eating good food.I have issues with hair loss and find myself shedding if I don't eat correctly. My main must-haves are ham, avocado, brazil nuts and chia seeds. Ham is ok on EE SW (although still processed
) as are nuts and chia if counted as HE but I will have to either syn the avo or just not count it. I think I will syn it to start with but once I get to a good weight I will start to not count them as they are just so healthy and good for you.So, on an EE day, does this sound an OK split of HEs (I trust you're still allowed to split HEs?)A: 30g feta (4/6 HEA), 85ml Alpro unsweetened (1/6 of HEA), 1 x Laughing Cow Extra Light (1/6 of HEA)B: 1/2 tbls chia (1/6 of HEB) and 24g porridge oats (2/6 of HEB) with most of the above milk and berries (to make overnight oats). I think I've done the maths right there but please do correct me!So, a sample menu for me would be:Breakfast: Banana and lemon/ginger tea on the train; overnight oats at my deskLunch: Minestrone soup (packed with veggies and using Quinoa not pasta) with 2 x ryvita crackerbreads (1 syn each) topped with 1 x Laughing Cow Extra Light triangle, spinach, cherry toms and lean ham. Dinner: Superfood salad (a variation on this, synning the avocado and only using the 3 brazil nuts from my HEB) served with a grilled chicken breast: www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/vegetables-recipes/superfood-salad/ Snacks will be fruit and a Celebrations chocolate (2.5 syns, got a massive tub to use up, might take all year!). Drinks will be water, green tea or coffee (only one in the morning, using a splash of my HEA milk).
Hello
I have decided that 2016 is going to be the year I sort out both my health and my debts.
When I don't pay attention to my diet and don't do any exercise I very quickly tip over into the overweight category on the NHS BMI website, so I would like to get down to the lower end of normal weight to allow me these little slips. My current weight is 11st 4lb; I will weigh again on New Year's Day (day 1 of this challenge) and we'll go from there.
I also need to pay off around £5k of debt which will be hard in one year, but it would be good to get at least half of it paid off before this time next year.
So, my plans are as follows:
1. Stop using my credit card for daily spending and attempt to have as many no spend days (NSDs) as possible each month. Pay off as much as I can by selling items on Ebay etc.
2. Follow the Slimming World Extra Easy plan (switching to green days on days when we're not having meat).
3. Start up Couch to 5k again, or the 30 Day Shred when it's too wet to run. I won't be able to do this as much as I would like as I don't really have that much free time, but I can't afford to pay for the gym any more.
4. Save up all my Amazon and Love2Shop vouchers from surveys etc for Christmas 2016. DO NOT SPEND THESE ON ANYTHING ELSE!
Hopefully I can keep this blog going, even if it's just for my own progress.
I'll check back on NYD. xx
